Naturopathic Nutrition – what is it and who is it for?
Nutritional therapy can support you if you have with long term health conditions, or you’re feeling ‘not yourself’ or you just want a boost to your health and wellbeing. If you’re stressed, feeling sluggish, have health conditions like eczema, Type 2 Diabetes, or high blood pressure we can look at how your diet, chances of food intolerance, gut disorders and lifestyle choices can affect your health.
Naturopathic nutrition is based on the principle that the body, mind and spirit are all connected, and we need balance in all areas to achieve optimum health. It’s also about preventing illness through diet and lifestyle changes, and using non-toxic therapies to bring you back to feeling great.
Nutritional therapy can work alongside conventional medical treatment or as an alternative treatment for many conditions.
Treating the whole person
I work with all aspects of you as a person, looking at diet but also including lifestyle, genetic factors, environmental factors, exercise. There is no single ‘healthy diet’ as we’re all individuals with very different needs. During our consultation we’ll be looking at the root causes of what you’d like help with, not just the symptoms.
Food as medicine
Most medication nowadays will just treat the symptom, but rarely looks at why disease occured, or how to fix the original problem. For example a painkiller can stop you feeling your dehydration headache, but it won’t rehydrate you. Supressing the problem can sometimes only make things worse, so we look for the root cause of your symptoms.
Food is a medicine, and many have powerful healing properties. Working with your body, nutritional support can help you to achieve:
- Optimal energy levels
- Balanced hormones
- Optimal digestion and absorption of nutrients
- Healthy blood sugar balance
- Feeling of wellness (emotionally and physically)
- Optimal detoxification
- Robust immune system
