Ep.71 – Latest science on IBS & SIBO
Would you like to know which nutrients are likely to be low if you’ve got SIBO? Or do you wonder what the difference is between IBS and SIBO? Or maybe you’re worried Well, this week I’m sharing the findings of three new research papers that I found and I thought you would find interesting. In this episode of the Inside Knowledge podcast, you’ll hear about three recent science papers which have been published in the last few months of 2024, and some little pearls of information that you can use from each one to try and improve your own digestion.

Ep.70 – IBS-M – what do the mixed symptoms mean?
Does your gut switch from being constipated one week and then having loose stools the next week? You never know where you’re at with it, what to eat, what to drink, or what to take to reduce your digestive issues. We normally speak about diarrhoea predominant or constipation predominant IBS, but there is a third type, IBS mixed or sometimes called IBS M.

Ep.69 – Difficult emotions & your IBS
You already know about the gut brain connection, and that stress can impact on your digestive symptoms. But did you also know that other emotions might be changing your gut motility, maybe slowing down your stomach emptying, or increasing your transit time? This week, I’m going to talk about those negative emotions that we don’t really like to feel but are very closely linked up to how we experience digestive symptoms.

Ep.68 – Alcohol and IBS
Is it ever okay to drink alcohol when you have IBS? We all know it’s not healthy and it’s never going to be good for you to drink, but what are the least worst options when it comes to a night out? Even if you don’t drink much, or very often, you might want to enjoy an occasional social with friends or family and have a few drinks. In this episode of the Inside Knowledge podcast, I’ll be sharing my thoughts on alcohol and IBS and how to mitigate the impact of drinking on your gut health.

Ep.67 – Digestive enzymes for IBS
Have you tried taking digestive enzymes to help your IBS? We naturally make enzymes as part of our digestive process which breaks down fats and carbohydrates and protein from our food. If you’re not producing enough of these certain enzymes, it could be contributing to your bloating and gas build up. The issue is that sometimes when we take supplements, they also contain things that might make your symptoms worse. So it’s not always a good idea to supplement. In this episode of the Inside Knowledge podcast, I’ll talk through the different types of digestive enzymes we make, why you might be low in digestive enzymes, and what the options are for improving the way you break down your food.

Ep.66 – Do keto, carnivore or vegan diets work for IBS?
Should you eliminate all carbs to get rid of your IBS symptoms? Have you thought about giving up all foods except meat and following the carnivore diet? Or, should you go completely plant based and focus on a vegan diet? In this episode of the Inside Knowledge Podcast, I’ll be sharing my thoughts on the ketogenic diet, the carnivore diet, and a vegan diet for IBS.
I’ll share the mechanisms by how this may help you and why some people do find relief with these diets. And we’ll also look at whether there’s any research in these diets for IBS and SIBO.

Ep.65 – Case study – constipation & worry
After my client Liz saw blood in her stools, she became really anxious that there was something wrong with her. Her job was quite full on, she had two children and didn’t have time to waste thinking about her digestion. But her bloating, constipation and ongoing fatigue were getting in the way of her ability to show up at work. After three months of working with me, Liz was finally able to stop thinking about her IBS. She was having regular bowel movements and she said, I feel like a new woman. In this episode I’ll share what Liz did to resolve her digestive issues, as you might be able to learn from that too.

Ep.64 – 5 things keeping you stuck with IBS
If you’ve had IBS for a really long time, you might feel like you’ve done all the work and tried everything. You might be interested then in this episode where I’m going to cover five things that I see keeping people stuck in their symptoms like digestive issues such as gas, bloating, constipation. These are things that I see commonly working with hundreds of different clients across the world who’ve got IBS and SIBO and things that you can change and start to work on.

Ep.63 – Understanding Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPI)
Should you take a proton pump inhibitor for your acid reflux? In this episode I’m sharing my thoughts on the benefits and implications of taking acid suppressing medication, even if you’re worried about small intestine bacterial overgrowth. If you’ve listened to episode 62 all about acid reflux, you’ll know it is so important to stop the acid burning and of course to avoid the pain and discomfort, but also the long term consequences of burning your oesophagus.

Ep.62 – Acid Reflux & IBS
Do you suffer with acid reflux? Maybe you wake up at night with a burning sensation in your chest or you constantly get regurgitation of food after you’ve eaten your meals. This can be an incredibly uncomfortable condition that interrupts your sleep, your work and your enjoyment of food. This week on The Inside Knowledge, I’ll be covering acid reflux, including how it can be treated. I’ll also cover some foods that you can eat and avoid, and other kinds of support for reducing the symptoms of heartburn, and regurgitation of acid.
