Chocolate Coconut Energy Balls

Energy balls are a good option when you just need something sweet and chocolatey. These give you a delicious sweet taste, as well as adding in protein, and fibre. These are easy to make and can be stored in the fridge for a few days.

Chocolate Coconut Energy Balls

Ingredients (makes around 20-25)

  • 100g cashew nuts
  • 50g hazelnuts
  • 50g almonds
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 100g dates
  • 1 tbsp warm water
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil (softened)


Mix the dry ingredients in a high powered blender until powdered. Mix in dates, water and coconut oil. When well mixed shape into little balls. This makes around 20-25 energy balls depending on how big you make them. 

Cashew nuts are good for energy levels because they contain a good amount of copper which is needed for the energy production cycle, as well as our immune system. Nuts are a good source of antioxidants, keeping our heart healthy.

Pro Tip

If your dates are very hard you might need to soak them in some warm water for 10 mins to soften them up.

I like to keep these as a working from home snack for an afternoon treat sometimes.

Fancy more of a treat?

If you have a bit more time, you can spread the mixture into a tray and cool in the fridge for 2 hours. Then melt some dark chocolate and spread over the cooled mixture and return to the fridge to reset.
