2016 - So we’re looking back 10 years? Oof this ma 2016 - So we’re looking back 10 years? Oof this made me exhausted (and a bit emotional), just remembering all that I used to fit into life in 2016. After working for a few years as a management consultant I had a work ethic that didn’t slow down.

Finding photos for this post I saw some really gorgeous videos of the kids, and they had a very wholesome start to life, but I was struggling a bit with being a stay at home mum (as you can tell by how many interests / responsibilities I had!).

I used to imagine my life when I could work full time and both kids were in school. Of course life can still be busy today, but the feeling of being needed 24/7 was overwhelming and I definitely have peace in my day / week which balances out today’s demands.

And now posting this sitting in a quiet house, with a full client rota, 10 years into running my nutrition business, having just written and launched my new book, I think 2016 Anna would be very happy with where I am.

Maybe it’s just my algorithm but have you noticed Maybe it’s just my algorithm but have you noticed the increase in ‘theories’ on Instagram? 🤓 The bird theory. Black coffee theory. One day theory. Chair theory. Orange peel theory.

They aren’t science terms or a diagnosis but kind of help explain something relatively normal in a way that gives you insight.

The underfed gut theory is mine.

✨️ It’s based on what I see with my clients everyday. Sometimes a simple idea gives you a better way of looking at the problem.

🍽 When people eat less, skip meals, or overrestrict their diet for too long, often the gut doesn’t calm down. It often becomes more sensitive, with more bloating. .
Is this you?

Long gaps between meals.
Eating “just enough”.
Restricting more and more foods for months or years.

🍽 So if managing IBS has started to mean you’re eating less and worrying more, the underfed gut theory might explain why that hasn’t helped.

📌 If you want help with your diet you can arrange a free call with me to talk about working together.

SIBO tests - can you trust them?  Breath testing SIBO tests - can you trust them?

Breath testing is the most accepted non-invasive test for Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth.

It can be a hassle to do, and feel fiddly to manage at home on your own but it’s the best way we have at the moment of understanding the small intestine microbiome.

(Remember, your results should always be interpreted in the context of symptoms and not on their own.)

One issue with SIBO breath tests is we don’t know exactly how long your small intestine gut transit will be, and the rise in gas could be when the lactulose hits your large intestine, where you want to have a lot of microbes.

This is why some practitioners use a cut off of 60 minutes to see the result.

If you suspect SIBO and want to find out for use, a breath test may be a useful next step — especially if you’re working with a qualified practitioner who can interpret the results and guide you through treatment.

Total sales = 74 as of this evening on Day 3.

Royalties is £39.68 made up from £22.20 from print books, £17.15 from eBooks, and £0.33 from Kindle unlimited. The Kindle unlimited is very small at the moment, but I’ve been reading in online forums that over time this is where a lot of the royalties come from as people don’t need to take a risk on your book, they can dip in and out.

I’ll keep you updated on the launch, tomorrow I’ll focus on who’s been buying the book / where the sales have come from so far.
