I'm waiting for the comments....I know it is a pop I'm waiting for the comments....I know it is a popular message on instagram, that low stomach acid causes reflux but unfortunately, it's just not accurate.I used to believe this myself but low stomach acid does not directly cause reflux. It can be linked to SIBO or gas production though, so it's still important to have good stomach acid.Did you know this? Let me know whether you've always thought this was true.#reflux #gerd #gerddiet #ibsdiet #irritablebowelsyndrome #gutreset #ibs #ibscommunity #ibswarrior #ibsawareness #ibshelp #ibstreatment #sibo
Do you use ChatGPT for gut health advice? It can b Do you use ChatGPT for gut health advice? It can be a great tool but take care with what you're asking it, it doesn't always have the answers that apply to your context. It can give you a false sense of security with official looking references. When you investigate them further they either don't refer to what they were supposed to (eg the information isn't actually in that paper) or the references aren't even real.Have you had any experience of this?#nutrition #nutritionadvice #nutritionplan #nutritionaltherapy #nutritionist
💬 Is the low FODMAP diet a weight loss plan? N 💬 Is the low FODMAP diet a weight loss plan?
Nope. It’s designed to ease IBS symptoms—not help you lose weight.

➡️ Some people do lose weight on it, but that’s not the point—and for many, it’s not even helpful. If you’re feeling confused, restricted, or fed up, I can help you feel more confident with food again.➡️ Not everyone wants to lose weight—especially if you’re already eating cautiously because of IBS. So people can unintentionally lose weight when they start cutting foods from their diet.⚠️ Some people find the diet emotionally triggering. If you’ve had a difficult relationship with food then going low FODMAP can feel like a diet. It can feel restrictive, which is one of the reasons its not suitable for everyone.Worried about losing too much weight?
✅️ Here are a few tips to help:
🍳 Eat more protein with every meal such as eggs, fish, meat, tofu and dairy are usually low FODMAP
🍚 Add energy-dense carbs - Like rice, oats, potatoes, quinoa
🥜 Don’t skip healthy fats - Try nut butters, oily fish, or butter in small amounts

🔎 I work with people who have IBS to reduce bloating, gut pain, and unpredictable symptoms—without falling into unnecessary restriction.

Another potential cause of your IBS symptoms is SI Another potential cause of your IBS symptoms is SIBO. (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth). It happens when there is an abnormal increase in the number or type of bacteria in your small intestine. These bacteria ferment carbohydrates and produce gas as a by-product, which can lead to symptoms like:⚠️ Bloating and distension⚠️ Diarrhoea or constipation⚠️ Burping or farting⚠️ Abdominal discomfort⚠️ Nutrient deficiencies (in long-standing cases)Testing for SIBO may be helpful if you:➡️ Have persistent IBS symptoms that haven’t responded to dietary changes (like the Low FODMAP diet) or the traditional dietary advice (e.g. reduce coffee, alcohol, eat regularly, eat fruit and vegetables)
➡️ Have ongoing bloating, gas and a noisy digestion, especially 1-3 hours after eating
➡️ Have a history of food poisoning or heavy antibiotic use

For all the sandwich generation doing the mid week For all the sandwich generation doing the mid week dinners, arranging school lunches, visiting family in need, picking up shopping, making cups of tea, helping with homework, and all the stuff that doesn't get talked about. It's a tough juggle sometimes but time for you is also important to help restore. Carve out a quiet cup of tea in the garden, go to bed a bit earlier, use a walk to think rather than listening to another podcast. And if no one says thank you today, THANK YOU! 🙏#sandwichgeneration #metime❤️ #IBS #guthealthtips #guthealthy #ibstriggers #ibsnutritionist
