Who I help – IBS & SIBO clients

    I work people who have

If you have these conditions you may get bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and excessive gas.

Maybe you feel frustrated because you’ve tried elimination diets, expensive tests, endless research or tested every new gut health supplements  – and you’re still not better.

    I support people who:

    • Want practical, evidence-based nutrition advice tailored to their symptoms
    • Feel confused about whether the low FODMAP diet or other approaches are right for them
    • Are tired of planning life around their digestion and want more confidence with food
    • Prefer clear, step-by-step guidance rather than generic advice

Whether you’ve had IBS for years or your symptoms are more recent, I help you find a sustainable way of eating that works for your gut and fits your lifestyle.

    About me – Anna Mapson

I don’t have IBS or SIBO (people often ask!)

For almost a decade I’ve worked with people to help them get better digestion.

But I didn’t grow up dreaming about talking to people about their poo all day.

In fact, 25 years ago, working in finance and banking I would have curled up with embarrassment having the conversations I do now. Asking people about how smelly their farts are? Listening to descriptions of people’s diarrhoea? No thank you!

But today nothing about my client’s toilet habits phase me now. (Throughout my three-year training and over the last nine years in practice I’ve become very used to the poo conversations.)

Whilst I don’t have lived experience of having IBS or SIBO, after working with hundreds of people who are struggling with bloating, pain, incontinence, severe constipation and gas I really understand the difficulties you’re facing, and I hope that comes through.

I work online from the UK.  My clients have been from around the world, including France, Malaysia, Germany, Romania, Austria, USA, Trinidad, UAE and more.

How I work with IBS & SIBO clients

My 3 month approach is structured to provide support at every stage.

    • Tell me what’s going on – Review your current symptoms, health history, test results and current diet. This helps me understand what’s driving your digestive problems.
    • Know what to eat – Meal ideas and recipes. This may include a low FODMAP diet, changes to fibre intake, or other evidence-based strategies.
    • Ongoing support – Regular follow-up sessions to review your progress, adjust your plan, and talk through challenges. You’ll always know the next step, so you don’t feel stuck or overwhelmed.
    • Learn more about digestion – access to the Gut Reset portal with videos, checklists, and troubleshooting guides for diets, symptoms and gut health.

All sessions are online, so you can work with me from anywhere in the UK or beyond.

    My gut healing process

Each person has different needs, symptoms, triggers, gut microbes and more – so I tailor the support to you. The common threads for everyone I work is to help you:

    • get better digestion
    • reduce food rules and lists of things you can’t eat
    • understand your digestion, including triggers
    • find enjoyment in eating after years of feeling scared about food
    • develop a better relationship to food and your body

“Working with Anna Mapson has been an incredibly positive and life-changing experience. Her deep understanding of gut health, especially in the context of IBS, gave me confidence and clarity after years of confusion and frustration.

    Outside work

In my spare time I learn Irish dancing. I started when I was 39 and have been working hard since then to improve. It’s challenging to learn all the steps, and it’s physically hard too, but I absolutely love it. Both my daughters dance too, and we compete and perform at shows.

I do also love any kind of dancing, and at a party I’m often on the dance floor.

Haemorrhoids with IBSHaemorrhoids are, as I'm sure you've heard the joke, a real pain in the bum. They are really a problem. For people who not only have constipation but also diarrhoea. I think there's a misconception, I'm going to put straight out there, that only...

    Why undereating can raise cholesterol

If you’re eating very little and have been told your cholesterol is high, it’s probably not because you’re eating lots of fatty food. Most people with IBS or SIBO are very careful about high fat foods as these can trigger bloating, gas or diarrhoea. So if not lots of...

Do I need to have IBS / SIBO diagnosis to work with you?

No you don’t need a formal diagnosis, but it’s helpful if you’ve been to the doctor already to check for other conditions. An IBS diagnosis can be frustrating because it doesn’t lead to a clear treatment path, but it helps rule out other conditions.

If you suspect SIBO I can help you arrange a private test or support you asking your doctor for a test.

How quickly will I see improvements?

Everyone responds differently to changes in their diet, some people can see a reduction in bloating within a week, other people need to test different options with diet, supplements and eating habits. I can’t guarantee you’ll feel better within 3 months, I wish I could.

Progress depends on lots of factors, including what’s driving your symptoms, how long these take to respond to changes, and how much time / effort you have to put into diet and lifestyle changes.

      Is everything online?

Yes I only work online and do not see people face to face. This allows me to offer the same service to everyone I work with, wherever you are in the world. To take part in the 3 month Gut Reset you’ll need internet access, an email address. I use Zoom for most calls, but can also use WhatsApp video calling if you prefer.

Do you only use the low FODMAP diet?

No I don’t recommend the low FODMAP diet for everyone with IBS or SIBO. There are many other ways of eating if the low FODMAP diet hasn’t worked for you or isn’t appropriate.
